SAVR Recipes
Recipe Guides for at-home Chefs
MY ROLE
Savr Recipes is a new startup that wants to make it easier for people to follow new recipes and cook great meals at home. They've brought me on to run a design sprint, and quickly test out possible solutions.
-The recipes are currently written as text, in ordered steps from start to finish.
-The solution needs to be designed as a feature for the Savr Recipes native mobile app.
-It needs to help users when they are in the midst of cooking.

THE PROBLEM
Users are complaining about to complexity of its recipes. Some say the steps are too cryptic or too advanced. The complex UI present is causing users to have a poor experience when using the application.
User Frustration - Turning quotes from users into HMW statements
How might we keep steps simple but still have enough instructions for the finished product to come out well done?

How might we keep customers engaged with the recipe pages?

How might we help the steps be more understandable to the customers? Could we add small pictures? Maybe a little graphic?
UNDERSTANDING THE USER
To under User pain points i have made a persona graphic to really highlight what the vast majority of users would do if interacting with the application

BREAKING DOWM THE PROCESS
I have implemented a detailed description of each and every item need before beginning the prep of the dishes the users choose including the picture of the item. I have also added the time in which it should take for the user to complete the dish of their choosing.
I Decided that this way was easier because I understand that some people are visual learners such as myself to word instructions themselves are not really going to cut it if you really want to make a good meal. I am a victim of using onions instead if garlic so I refuse to have anyone suffer like i did.

I have added videos within each step as secondary help to the users. I felt like if they could follow allow with another individual it would help for a more engaging and comfortable response.
User testers have said videos were an obvious good idea because they don't want to have to eye every measurement of ingredients. "Sometimes we would like to see how much is needed instead of reading it."

BREAKING DOWM THE PROCESS pt2
Customer
Journey
Users Want to know if they are on the right track in the cooking process. They wish to feel Less Stressed or rushed when performing steps and want to save time during the process. They want simple but clear steps to avoid unnecessary lost time or unnecessary messes. Wish to know all items need before begging the dish. All Around They Want a more ENJOYABLE experience not messy or stressful.

began sketches to get an idea of how I will layout the app and its pages. I wanted to keep it easy and accessible to people quickly looking to fill their bellies or just looking for inspiration for their next meal.

Competitive Analysis
Tasty is a popular app in the Appstore that targeted all user problems and executed in a way that even children can easily follow their recipes, i was easily able to draw inspiration from them, but they lack the visibility and graphics to really show each step with pictures.

LESSONS LEARNED
It's not difficult really to the user's Pain Points.
Customer empathy goes a really long way in this industry I have realized. As long as you are able to really put yourself into the users shoes, you can easily make something accessible to everybody. There were times when i have used applications and really struggled so I truly would like to avoid anybody going through anything like that, ESPECIALLY when you are hungry.
